NBA preseason analysis covers Rockets and Raptors

Preseason performances are providing insight into the rosters of the Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors. For the Rockets, rookie Reed Sheppard has shown strong shooting capabilities, hitting 44.0% of his three-point attempts. However, the team's increased guard depth may impact his regular-season minutes under coach Ime Udoka. Other notable preseason performers for Houston include Bogdan Bogdanovic and Fred VanVleet, the latter of whom continues to demonstrate high assist numbers and offensive organization.

The Toronto Raptors face ongoing challenges against Atlantic Division rivals. The team has struggled significantly against the New York Knicks, failing to secure a regular-season win against them since December 2023. Similarly, the Boston Celtics have dominated recent matchups against Toronto. Following a preseason loss to the Knicks, Scottie Barnes emphasized the need for the team to improve as they attempt to become meaningful contenders.
