NBA pushes European fan growth with NBA Europe launch plan

NBA vice‑president Laura Pinnell outlined the league’s strategy to expand its European fan base. The league plans to launch "NBA Europe" in October 2027, focusing on key cities such as Paris, London, Milan and Rome, while also targeting Madrid and Istanbul. With about 270 million fans in the region and 71 European players in the NBA, the organization is investing in multiple cultural touchpoints – fashion partnerships like Balenciaga, gaming through NBA 2K, music events and collaborations with local creators. The NBA operates 18 localized social‑media channels in Europe and the Middle East and has run Creator Studio events in London and Berlin, engaging dozens of influencers. To offset time‑zone challenges, the league is increasing non‑game content, including the NBA Summer House events in Paris that combine basketball, fashion and live performances. These initiatives aim to turn cultural engagement into lasting fandom across the continent.
