NBA roster shifts feature LeBron James in Philadelphia and Ben Simmons return

The NBA landscape is seeing significant roster shifts and player movements ahead of the 2026-27 season. In Philadelphia, the 76ers have constructed a high-profile roster featuring LeBron James, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey. Following the trade of Paul George, President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey has added depth with players like Dean Wade to bolster the second unit.

In Los Angeles, the Lakers are undergoing reconstruction around Luka Dončić. The team is looking for low-cost frontcourt depth, with Milwaukee Bucks centre Jericho Sims identified as a potential trade target. Meanwhile, former Lakers guard Nick Smith Jr. is moving overseas to join Real Madrid after his team option was declined.

Elsewhere, Ben Simmons has signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the Sacramento Kings following a season away from the league. His return has drawn skepticism from peers like Patrick Beverley, though Simmons maintains he has worked hard to regain his position.
