NBA teams pursue trades for Jonathan Kuminga and Peyton Watson

Several NBA teams are exploring roster moves involving young forwards Jonathan Kuminga and Peyton Watson. The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly made a pitch to acquire Kuminga via a sign-and-trade framework. The proposed deal would involve sending Jarred Vanderbilt and draft capital to a third team, with a contract value for Kuminga in the $45 million range. However, Kuminga’s camp is seeking a deal exceeding $20 million per year.

In addition to the Lakers, the Cleveland Cavaliers are considered a serious candidate to acquire Peyton Watson. Watson, a restricted free agent previously with the Denver Nuggets, is also drawing interest from the Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks. The Denver Nuggets have offered Watson a four-year, $70 million contract, but their position as a second-apron team complicates potential trades. To facilitate a move, Denver may require a first-round pick and a notable player in a sign-and-trade deal.
