Paul George introduced as Boston Celtics star following Jaylen Brown trade
Paul George was officially introduced as a member of the Boston Celtics following a blockbuster trade that sent 2024 NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers. During his introductory press conference, George addressed the backlash from Boston fans regarding the departure of Brown, stating, “I understand the circumstances. I understand how huge JB was, not only for the organization, but here in the city. So, I didn’t take it personal.”
George, 36, emphasized his readiness to support Jayson Tatum, whom he identified as the team’s primary superstar. “We have a superstar and that’s JT. I’m not here to... necessarily steal the shine or try to reinvent who I am. I’m here to help JT,” George said. He also provided a positive health update, claiming he has “turned that corner of dealing with injuries” and feels physically prepared for the upcoming season.
The Celtics' revamped roster also includes veteran guard Mike Conley Jr. and Mitchell Robinson, as President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens seeks to maintain the team's championship contention. While concerns remain regarding George's recent injury history, the veteran forward expressed confidence in his ability to integrate into the Celtics' system and contribute to a winning culture.
