NBCUniversal shuts down first‑run syndication, ending The Kelly Clarkson Show

NBCUniversal announced it will close its first‑run syndicated television production division. The move will end The Kelly Clarkson Show after its current season, with episodes to continue through the fall.

The closure also affects other syndicated programs produced by the unit, including Access Hollywood, Access Live, Karamo and The Steve Wilkos Show. Executive Frances Berwick said the decision reflects a shift toward programming that local stations prefer, such as news and community content, making the traditional syndicated talk‑show model harder to sustain.

Kelly Clarkson said her departure was personal, wanting to prioritize her children. The show, which debuted in 2019, won 24 Daytime Emmy Awards and was one of the most successful daytime talk formats.
