NBCUniversal to shut down first-run syndicated television production division

NBCUniversal has announced the complete shutdown of its first-run syndicated television production division. This strategic move is intended to align with changing programming preferences at local stations, which are increasingly prioritizing local news and community programming over traditional syndicated talk shows.

As a result of this division's closure, several programs will end production, including The Kelly Clarkson Show, Access Hollywood, Access Live, Karamo, and The Steve Wilkos Show.

Kelly Clarkson and NBCUniversal confirmed that The Kelly Clarkson Show will conclude after its current season, with new episodes airing through the fall. Clarkson stated the decision to step away was personal, noting a desire to prioritize her children.
