Núbia de Oliveira wins Rio de Janeiro International Half Marathon
Núbia de Oliveira won the 28th Rio de Janeiro International Half Marathon on August 16, securing her second title in the event with a time of 1:16:54. She narrowly defeated Ethiopia's Tigist Girma Masebo, who finished just three seconds behind, and Brazilian athlete Jéssica Ladeira, who finished fourth seconds later.
The event also served as the final stage of the Brazilian Street Running Championship. While de Oliveira had already qualified for the World Street Running Championships, Jéssica Ladeira won the national half marathon title with a time of 1:16:58. This victory secured Ladeira's spot to represent Brazil at the upcoming World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, scheduled for September 19-20.
In the men's category, Nicolas Kiptoo Kosgei won the international race with a time of 1:03:20. Giovani dos Santos was the top Brazilian finisher in the men's race, placing fifth with a time of 1:03:42, which also earned him qualification for the World Championships.
