NBL announces creator competition and Geraldton Buccaneers women's team expansion
The National Basketball League (NBL) has launched the Most Valuable Creator (NBLMVC) competition, a new initiative for creators across Australia and New Zealand. Open to individuals aged 16 and older, the competition offers a $100,000 prize pool. Participants can engage with basketball through various content styles, including comedy, music, lifestyle, gaming, and fashion, across platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, and podcasts.
In separate basketball news, the Geraldton Buccaneers will expand their program by fielding a women's team in the NBL1 West starting in 2027. This development, confirmed by Basketball WA and the Geraldton Amateur Basketball Association, provides a high-performance pathway for female players in the mid-west region. The Buccaneers' men's program has previously secured championships in 2023 and 2025.
