NBTC Selection Committee orders Dr. Sorana to cease duties

The NBTC Selection Committee has passed a resolution to implement administrative measures ordering Dr. Sorana Boonbaichaiyapruk to cease performing his duties as the Chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

This decision follows a ruling by the Central Administrative Court, which dismissed a lawsuit filed by Dr. Sorana seeking to revoke a previous decision regarding his qualifications. The Selection Committee determined that Dr. Sorana lacks the required qualifications or possesses prohibited characteristics under Section 8 (2) of the Act, and is considered to have waived his right to the position under Section 18.

Despite the court ruling, Dr. Sorana has expressed his intention to continue his duties and attend NBTC meetings. To prevent potential disruptions to the organization’s operations and protect the public interest, the Selection Committee is petitioning the Central Administrative Court for a temporary injunction to formally halt his activities while the legal process continues. Dr. Sorana maintains the right to appeal the court's decision.
