NCAA appoints Mike Hill as vice president of men’s basketball
The NCAA has appointed Mike Hill as the new vice president of men’s basketball. Hill succeeds JoAn Scott, who retired after serving with the organization since 2013.
In his new role, Hill will oversee the Division I, II, and III Men’s Basketball Championships, as well as the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). He will report to Dan Gavitt, the NCAA’s senior vice president of basketball. Hill will act as the primary liaison to the Division I Men’s Basketball Committee, managing the business, selection, seeding, and bracketing processes for the championship. He will also serve as a liaison to the Men’s Basketball Oversight Committee, which governs playing rules, seasons, and legislation.
Prior to joining the NCAA, Hill served as the athletic director at Charlotte from 2018 to 2025.
