Air Force defeats Nevada 36-33 in double-overtime thriller

Air Force secured a 36-33 double-overtime victory against Nevada in their Mountain West Conference opener at Mackay Stadium. Senior running back Rocco Conti sealed the win with a seven-yard touchdown run in the second overtime period.

The game featured several momentum shifts. Nevada initially held a 10-3 lead following an eight-yard touchdown run by Herschel Turner. Air Force responded with a lengthy 92-yard drive capped by a Liam Szarka touchdown run to tie the game at 10-10 by halftime.

After Nevada reclaimed a 17-13 lead in the fourth quarter, Szarka led a scoring drive that included a touchdown pass to Matt Long and an eight-yard rushing touchdown to put the Falcons ahead 27-17. Nevada rallied late to tie the game at 27-all, forcing overtime. Following a series of field goals in the first overtime, Air Force ended the contest in the second overtime after a successful defensive stop and a Conti rushing touchdown.
