NCAA releases initial NPI rankings for Division II soccer

The NCAA has released the initial NCAA Power Index (NPI) rankings for Division II soccer, a new system replacing the previous regional ranking method. The NPI evaluates team performance by considering game results and the strength of opponents, with values updating throughout the season.

In the men's Super Region 3 rankings, Fort Hays State sits in ninth place with an 8-2-3 record. Saginaw Valley leads the region, followed by Lincoln (MO) and Roosevelt. The rankings will determine the six remaining at-large bids for the NCAA Tournament after automatic selections are made for conference champions.

In the women's Atlantic Region, Slippery Rock University ranks fourth in the initial NPI standings. The team holds a 10-2-1 record. The top three teams in the region are Fairmont State University, West Chester University, and Kutztown. The Atlantic Region will award seven total spots in the NCAA Tournament, consisting of two automatic berths and five at-large selections based on final NPI rankings.
