NCERT forms 20-member panel to revise Political Science textbooks

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has reconstituted a 20-member panel to develop new Political Science textbooks and teaching materials for Classes 11 and 12. This initiative is part of the ongoing implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023.

Led by Prof. Sandeep Shastri, the new team includes academicians and teachers tasked with finalizing syllabi and drafting content. The revision aims to move away from rote learning toward conceptual understanding, with a focus on cultural rootedness and Indian knowledge systems. The panel includes at least four members with links to the RSS or its affiliated organizations.

The development process involves literature reviews, drafting, and multiple stages of oversight by NCERT committees. Final textbooks will undergo periodic reviews by a Textbook Core Group before official publication and distribution.
