NCERT to develop new Class 10-12 textbooks in mission mode

During the 66th Foundation Day of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in New Delhi, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi announced that revised textbooks for Classes 10 to 12 are being developed in mission mode. This follows the recent introduction of new textbooks for Classes 1 to 9 under the National Curriculum Framework.

Minister Joshi emphasized the need for curricula to evolve alongside technological advancements, specifically highlighting the growing role of artificial intelligence. He stated that educational materials must help students understand and use AI confidently and responsibly. He also noted the importance of parental awareness regarding children’s digital habits.

To promote inclusive and multilingual education, NCERT is preparing textbooks for Classes 1 to 8 in all 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, alongside 121 language primers, including 93 tribal languages. The event also saw the inauguration of new facilities, such as a Robotics Learning Centre, a Translation Lab, and an upgraded television studio.
