NCIS expands franchise with new New York City spinoff

The NCIS franchise is expanding with a new spinoff set in New York City. Scheduled to premiere in October, the series aims to refresh the brand by utilizing the dynamic metropolitan environment. Production is filming directly on the streets of New York to provide an authentic visual atmosphere and realistic setting that differs from previous installments.

Returning cast members include LL Cool J and Scott Canna, who will be joined by new characters to expand the investigative dynamics of the franchise.

As the franchise grows, viewers can trace the series' history starting from the JAG backdoor pilot in 2003, leading into the original NCIS series which has run for over 20 years. The original series featured long-standing characters such as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, while the current team is led by Alden Parker.
