NCLT freezes auctioned assets of Byju's parent company

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) Bengaluru Bench has ordered a freeze on assets auctioned by Think and Learn Private Limited (TLPL), the parent company of edtech firm Byju's. The order, dated August 31, 2026, directs the Resolution Professional, Shailendra Ajmera, and the auction buyer, Comprint Tech Solutions (I) Private Limited, to maintain the status quo of all sold articles in their existing state.

The tribunal's intervention follows allegations that assets valued at approximately Rs 150 crore were sold for roughly Rs 16 crore. During proceedings, representatives for K3 Education Private Limited accused the Resolution Professional of fraud and asset deprivation, alleging that material documents were suppressed. The NCLT has directed that these disputed assets be preserved until the next hearing scheduled for September 21, 2026.
