NCPTA-Ghana caps PTA dues and levies at GH¢200 per semester
The National Council of Parents-Teacher Associations (NCPTA) in Ghana has reaffirmed that approved PTA dues and levies are capped at GH¢200 per parent per semester. This clarification follows reports of unauthorized and excessive collections by various school-level PTAs across the country.
According to NCPTA President Christian Aikins Atsu, the GH¢200 total consists of GH¢50 for administrative PTA dues and GH¢150 as a levy intended to fund school-based projects, such as infrastructure or resource support. Any local PTA wishing to charge more than this amount must obtain written clearance from the national leadership.
The decision was finalized during an Extraordinary National Conference held in Accra from August 25 to 27, 2026. Atsu cautioned PTA executives against allowing school heads to influence them into using unauthorized receipts and urged parents to demand clarification if they are asked to pay amounts exceeding the approved limit.
