NCPWD announces ₦1bn talent fund for disability reality show

The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has announced the ‘PWDs Got Talent Reality TV Show 2026’ in partnership with the Discovering Abilities in Disabilities Initiative (DADI). The initiative aims to provide a national platform for talent discovery and career development for Nigerians with disabilities, shifting the societal narrative from sympathy to empowerment.

To support the program, the Commission proposed a ₦1 billion Ability Talent Fund. This fund is intended to facilitate talent rewards, enterprise development, and the long-term sustainability of participants' careers.

During an inauguration in Abuja, NCPWD Executive Secretary Ayuba Burki Gufwan detailed that the show will feature 14 finalists—two from each of Nigeria's six geopolitical zones and two from the Federal Capital Territory. The finalists will live together for 30 days to compete and learn. To ensure the project's success, six strategic sub-committees have been established to manage areas including logistics, media, branding, and inclusion compliance.
