NCRTC evaluates transit-oriented development in National Capital Region

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is assessing the development of mixed-use, transit-oriented growth nodes along several regional corridors. These include the operational Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, as well as proposed corridors connecting Delhi to Gurugram-SNB-Alwar and Delhi-Panipat-Karnal.

The initiative seeks to utilize high-speed regional connectivity to establish planned urban centers and attract private investment in residential, commercial, and institutional sectors. A consultative workshop was held in collaboration with the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) to discuss the regulatory, financial, and planning frameworks necessary to make Transit Oriented Development (TOD) viable.

Attendees included senior officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the NCRPB, and the Delhi Development Authority. The workshop focused on the policy and institutional support required to incentivize private developers to invest in these TOD zones.
