NCSC visits family of Gulzar Singh in Punjab to review investigation
A team from the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) visited Toor Banjara village in the Sangrur district of Punjab to meet with the family of the late Gulzar Singh. The visit aimed to assess the actions taken by the state government and local administration following Singh’s death.
According to Sangrur Deputy Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur, the family expressed satisfaction with the assistance provided by the Punjab government. The authorities have released Rs 5 lakh in compensation to the family and have assured them of employment for one family member.
Regarding the investigation, police reported that four individuals have been arrested, with efforts ongoing to apprehend other suspects. A Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by an officer of Additional Director General of Police rank, is currently conducting a detailed probe into the matter. The district administration has committed to full cooperation with the NCSC and continued support for the bereaved family.
