NCSIST satellite launch vehicle test fails at Jiupeng Base

The National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) conducted a satellite launch vehicle test at the Jiupeng Base in Pingtung on August 19, which resulted in a flight failure. Following an initial orbital anomaly, the rocket's self-destruct mechanism was activated according to established emergency protocols.

The rocket crashed into a mountainous area in Mudan Township. While the incident caused alarm among local residents, NCSIST stated that the crash was contained within the designated safety control zone and resulted in no casualties or property damage.

Pingtung County officials have requested a clarification of the cause and a review of testing procedures to ensure future launch paths avoid residential settlements and tribal areas to mitigate safety risks. NCSIST plans to analyze telemetry data to identify the cause of the anomaly and refine future designs.
