NDC criticizes NPP calls for Sammy Gyamfi's removal
Japhet Festus Gbede, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Volta Regional Communications Team, has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for demanding the removal of Sammy Gyamfi. Gbede characterized the NPP's calls as “audacious hypocrisy,” arguing that the party lacks the moral authority to critique others while facing significant internal instability.
Gbede highlighted organizational issues within the NPP's Volta Regional structure, describing it as “fractured, confused, disorganised, dysfunctional, directionless and politically rudderless.” He noted that 11 of the 18 constituencies in the region reportedly failed to participate in recent NPP Volta Regional elections due to concerns regarding the manipulation of the electoral album and the polling-station process.
Furthermore, Gbede pointed to internal leadership conflicts, specifically citing the Regional Secretariat's decision to nullify appointments made by its own Regional Chairman. He also questioned the NPP's basis for targeting Gyamfi regarding a reported US$1.7 billion loss in the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme, asking if the party had proven Gyamfi's personal involvement.
