NDDC and UNIPORT partner to boost Niger Delta creative industry

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has partnered with the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) to foster sustainable development in the Niger Delta through the creative industry.

The collaboration includes a four-day technical training programme in film production held at the University of Port Harcourt’s Theatre Arts and Film Studies auditorium. The initiative aims to equip filmmakers from the Niger Delta and across Nigeria with technical skills and professional expertise.

Dr. Selina Dan-Albert, the NDDC Head of New Media, stated that the commission is exploring ways to empower youth and provide them with the skills necessary to thrive in the creative sector. She encouraged participants to use their abilities to tell authentic stories about the region. Professor Edward Imo, Head of the Theatre Arts and Film Studies department, noted that the programme is designed to utilize the department's human resources and expertise to promote filmmaking as a viable career and communication medium.
