NDDC begins reconstruction of Benin-Sapele Expressway

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has officially commenced the reconstruction of a 15.4-kilometre failed section of the Benin-Sapele Expressway. The project follows a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the difficulties faced by motorists and commuters using the corridor.

NDDC Board Chairman Chiedu Ebie stated that two contractors will be deployed to work from opposite ends of the project to expedite completion. The commission emphasized that the Benin-Sapele Expressway serves as a critical national economic corridor linking the South-South region to other parts of Nigeria.

Additionally, the NDDC has taken steps to terminate and re-award the contract for the Abraka-Obiaruku-Abavo-Agbor Road following previous challenges with the original contractor.
