NDDC denies reports of bridge collapse in Bayelsa

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has denied social media reports alleging that a bridge project in the Otuogori community of Bayelsa State has collapsed.

Addressing journalists at the site of the 600-metre Otuogori-Otuegwe Bridge, NDDC Director for Bayelsa, Engr. Godknows Alamieyeseigha, clarified that the bridge is still under construction and has not collapsed. He noted that while an incident occurred at the construction site, officials are currently assessing the circumstances. Alamieyeseigha dismissed claims of structural failure, describing the event as an accident that occurred during the preparatory stage of positioning beams.

The construction firm's managing director, Engineer Christian Emeozor, assured that the project is being executed to high standards and remains in the preparatory phase.
