Nder Naar village holds deep Islamic historical roots in Senegal
The village of Nder Naar, located in the Cayor region of Senegal, holds a significant historical legacy tied to Islamic teaching and prominent religious figures. Founded by Cheikh Sidy Khouya Kounta (1823–1895), the village maintains close ties to Ndiassane.
Access to the village involves navigating difficult, clayey roads near Mékhé that become challenging during the rainy season. The village's history is preserved by descendants such as Mouhamed Dioulite Kounta, a great-grandson of Cheikh Sidy Khouya Kounta, who serves as a custodian of the family memory. The village was originally known as Darou Salam.
