NVIDIA expands AI infrastructure and software ecosystems globally

NVIDIA is executing a multi-pronged expansion of its artificial intelligence ecosystem, focusing on infrastructure, specialized hardware, and software applications.

In Australia, NVIDIA is partnering with eight infrastructure providers, including Firmus, NEXTDC, and AirTrunk, to build AI factories. This initiative aims to reach 2GW of computing capacity by 2027, significantly increasing the nation's current 1.6GW capacity. Additionally, Google Cloud has partnered with Flinders University to launch an AI Accelerator for students.

On the hardware and software front, NVIDIA has invested $3.5 billion in MediaTek to integrate NVLink Fusion technology, allowing third-party chips to connect to NVIDIA's AI infrastructure. The company is also advancing its autonomous vehicle presence, with its DRIVE platform powering robotaxi fleets for Uber, Lyft, and Waymo.

In the media sector, a collaboration between NDI and NVIDIA is developing AI-powered workflows for real-time multilingual broadcasting. These tools use NIM microservices to enable lip-synced dubbing and translation, reportedly reducing video bandwidth requirements eightfold in internal tests. Furthermore, NVIDIA's NIM 2.0.12 update has demonstrated a 2.5x throughput increase for the Nemotron 3 Ultra system, enhancing scalability for enterprise AI workloads.
