N'Djamena municipality regulates Municipal Police conduct

The N'Djamena municipal government has issued new regulations to oversee the conduct of the Municipal Police following numerous citizen complaints regarding agent behavior. During a meeting led by Mayor Senoussi Hassana Abdoulaye, officials addressed unethical practices, including improper seizures, unauthorized fines, and illegal collection of money.

The municipality clarified the division of responsibilities, stating that the Municipal Police must focus on security and facilitating interventions, while sanitary management of food products remains the exclusive jurisdiction of the Sanitary Police. To ensure transparency, all seizures must now be formalized with an official report, and all fines must be strictly justified.

Mayor Abdoulaye warned that failure to comply with these new guidelines could result in disciplinary sanctions or legal prosecution. The administration emphasized that these measures are intended to protect citizen rights and restore public trust in municipal services.
