N'Djamena urban governance: Minister concludes inspection tour

Dr. Ahmat Oumar Ahmat, the Minister Delegate to the Vice-Prime Minister in charge of Decentralization, has concluded an inspection tour of the ten districts and the city commune of N'Djamena to address urban governance and management issues.

The tour focused on tackling urban disorder, including the unauthorized occupation of public roads and sidewalks, sanitation, and urban security. During a meeting at the General Delegation of the Government, the Minister emphasized the need for better coordination and respect for the specific competencies of municipal authorities to improve public action and field efficiency.

While the executive aims to restore order and modernize the capital, observers note that urban issues such as street vending and begging are deeply linked to structural poverty. There are calls to balance regulatory enforcement with economic alternatives and social policies to address the root causes of these urban challenges.
