N’Djaména launches moto-taxi regulation and identification program

The Multisectoral Steering Committee for Urban Transport (CMPTU) has officially launched a new regulatory and identification program for moto-taxi drivers in N’Djaména. The initiative aims to organize the urban transport sector, improve road safety, and increase transparency for passengers.

Under the coordination of the central municipality, the program requires identified drivers to wear specific equipment, including helmets and vests featuring unique identification numbers and badges. This system is designed to help commuters, including parents transporting students, easily distinguish authorized drivers from unidentified ones. During the launch ceremony, the Mayor of N’Djaména, Senoussi Hassana Abdoulaye, demonstrated support for the initiative by wearing the required gear.

The first phase of the program focuses on driver identification. The municipality has initially provided 100 vests and 100 badges to the first group of participating drivers. Authorities have urged all drivers to comply with the new directives promptly to ensure better visibility and management of the sector.
