Ndrangheta: Prosecutor seeks prison sentence for Swiss support suspect

The Swiss Federal Prosecutor's Office has requested a sentence of six years and three months in prison for a 59-year-old man accused of providing financial and logistical support to the 'Ndrangheta criminal organization operating in Switzerland.

During the trial at the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona, prosecutors highlighted the strategic importance of weapons seized during the arrest of the defendant and an accomplice in the canton of Aargau. The prosecution argued that the 'Ndrangheta has been embedded in Swiss social, economic, and institutional structures for decades.

Evidence presented includes recorded conversations and observations of the defendant's cautious behavior, such as leaving his mobile phone behind and parking his car far from meeting locations to avoid detection. The prosecution also interpreted the defendant's silence during proceedings as an adherence to the code of omertà.
