NDRC Director Zheng Shajie meets private firms to discuss economic resilience

Zheng Shajie, Director of China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), presided over a symposium with private enterprise leaders on October 10 to discuss economic trends and industrial resilience. Representatives from sectors including petrochemicals, natural gas, agricultural machinery, and artificial intelligence—including companies such as Shenghong Holding, Dongming Petrochemical, ENN Group, Jifeng Sannong, and Xtal Group—shared insights on production and market challenges.

Zheng noted that while the first three quarters showed economic resilience, external shocks to international supply and demand continue to impact operations. To meet annual economic targets, the NDRC plans to increase counter-cyclical adjustments in the fourth quarter. This includes strengthening the coordination of existing and incremental policies and conducting consistency assessments of macro-policy orientations.

The commission aims to accelerate major engineering projects related to the '15th Five-Year Plan' and the 'Six Networks' construction (water, power, computing, communication, urban underground, and logistics networks) to stimulate domestic demand. Additionally, the NDRC will focus on integrating technological and industrial innovation to enhance supply chain resilience, energy security, and food security.
