NDS highway crews spent 10,000 hours cleaning Slovak motorways

The National Highway Company (NDS) reported that its maintenance crews and highway patrols spent nearly 10,000 hours collecting waste and debris from Slovak highways during the first half of the year.

Beyond routine cleaning, the highway patrol is responsible for removing hazardous objects that fall from vehicles to prevent serious accidents. Crews have encountered various unusual items on the roads, including a boat, a mobile toilet, bicycles, a refrigerator, furniture, and even a garden shed.

Rastislav Droppa, Vice Chairman of the Board and Operating Director of NDS, emphasized the importance of securing cargo properly. He noted that while property damage from fallen items may be minor, the risk of drivers reacting poorly to sudden obstacles can lead to tragic accidents.
