Nea Ionia: Man jailed after cannibalistic attack on taxi driver

A 35-year-old man has been remanded in custody in Nea Ionia following a violent attack on a 54-year-old female taxi driver. During the incident, the suspect bit off the driver's ear, causing permanent disfigurement. The victim remains hospitalized in shock.

The suspect claimed during interrogation that the attack was triggered by a sudden braking maneuver by the driver while they were searching for an internet signal to process a payment. He further alleged that the braking caused him to hit his head, breaking his glasses and causing him to lose control. He cited psychiatric issues and a claimed disability rate of over 67% as contributing factors. Authorities have ordered a psychiatric evaluation, and the man faces felony charges for premeditated bodily harm and threats.
