Nea Makri: Man arrested with 35-year prison sentence for fraud

Police in Nea Makri have arrested a 48-year-old man facing five outstanding convictions for fraud, forgery, and incitement. The suspect's total prison sentence amounts to 35 years and six months, along with a 2,000 euro fine.

The individual operated through several sophisticated schemes. He reportedly rented vehicles from rental companies and then sold them to unsuspecting buyers via online advertisements after collecting deposits.

In a second scheme, the suspect targeted rental properties by posing as a potential tenant. He used forged bank deposit slips to convince owners to hand over keys, after which he would falsely present himself as the owner to collect deposits from new tenants.

Additionally, the suspect targeted individuals with existing bank debts by posing as a lawyer for a financial services management company, promising to settle or reduce their debts in exchange for large sums of money.
