Nea Smyrni femicide: Man kills former partner and commits suicide

Authorities in Nea Smyrni are investigating a premeditated femicide and subsequent suicide involving a 48-year-old man and his 45-year-old former partner. Forensic examinations and security footage reveal that the perpetrator waited outside the victim's residence before attacking her. According to forensic findings, the man kicked the woman twice, forcing her to kneel, before shooting her once in the head. He then turned the weapon on himself and committed suicide.

Investigations suggest the motive may be pathological jealousy. The victim's family reported that she lived in fear, having recently changed her home locks because the perpetrator had been entering her house without permission. While no recent domestic violence reports were filed with Greek authorities, the man reportedly had a history of similar behavior in Albania, including allegations of harassment and stalking in 2016.

Police are currently analyzing digital evidence, including mobile phones and electronic devices, to reconstruct the events leading up to the crime. The weapon used was an illegal revolver. Security footage has captured the moments of the attack, which authorities describe as showing extreme aggression.
