Neal Schon faces deadline for Journey Beyond trademark
Guitarist Neal Schon faces a critical deadline this Thursday, Sept. 24, regarding the trademark application for ‘Journey Beyond’, a potential offshoot group. To secure trademark protection, Schon must file a statement of use or an extension request with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office within six months of receiving a notice of allowance. Failure to meet this deadline could result in the application being considered ‘abandoned’.
This development comes amid uncertainty for the band Journey. Longtime bandmate Jonathan Cain has confirmed he is stepping away, and the group is currently engaged in its ‘Final Frontier Tour’. While the trademark application began in April 2025, the future of the offshoot group remains uncertain as the deadline approaches.
