Neamț County schools face reorganization and water crisis disruptions

The Neamț County School Inspectorate is managing significant structural changes and logistical challenges for the 2026-2027 school year. Due to declining student populations and budget pressures, several educational units are undergoing reorganization, including the reduction of legal entities and management positions. Inspector General Ionuț Liviu Ciocoiu reported that 14 schools have seen changes in their management teams following resignations or the expiration of mandates.

Additionally, a water supply crisis in Târgu Neamț has forced immediate changes to school operations. For the period of September 7-11, 2026, the Inspectorate approved online learning for Vasile Conta High School and the Inclusive Education School Center to ensure hygiene standards. Other local institutions, including Ștefan cel Mare National College and various technical colleges and kindergartens, will implement alternative programs such as ‘Școala Altfel’ or ‘Săptămâna Verde’ instead of standard in-person classes.
