Neapoli-Sykies Municipality holds emergency blood donation drive

The Municipality of Neapoli-Sykies has issued an urgent call for voluntary blood donations to address critical summer shortages. The emergency donation drive is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, and Thursday, August 27, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Donations will take place at the Neapoli-Sykies Town Hall in Sykia and the municipal premises in Neapoli. The initiative is organized in collaboration with the mobile collection units of major Thessaloniki public hospitals, including AHEPA, Hippokrateio, and Papageorgiou.

Mayor Simos Daniilidis noted that August is consistently one of the most difficult periods for hospitals due to increased demand and a decrease in available donors during the summer holiday season. The blood supply is essential for treating kidney and cancer patients, as well as responding to emergency incidents such as traffic accidents.
