Neapolis Marathon to draw 8,000 runners to Naples

The Neapolis Marathon is set to take place on Sunday, October 18, with a start and finish point at Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples. Approximately 8,000 professional and amateur runners from 95 different countries are expected to participate. The largest international contingents include participants from France, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

Organizers noted that 75 percent of participants are traveling from outside the Campania region, which is expected to provide a boost to local tourism and hospitality. The event will also honor the memory of Davide Tizzano, a rowing and sailing champion who passed away last December.

Marathon president Vincenzo Maiorano described the event as a way to showcase the city of Naples to the world.
