NEAR Protocol executives discuss cryptographic resilience and private AI
NEAR Protocol executives have highlighted the network's ability to withstand potential cryptographic failures. Anton Astafiev, CTO of Near One, stated that NEAR is better positioned than earlier blockchains, specifically Bitcoin, to handle a cryptographic “Black Swan” event. He attributed this resilience to NEAR's account design, which allows the integration of new signing schemes without the massive, multi-year transitions required by other chains.
Astafiev noted that while the team is already planning for such scenarios, preparing for a cryptographic breakdown would involve a significant amount of work. Additionally, NEAR co-founder Illia Polosukhin announced that NEAR AI aims to provide private, verifiable, and secure AI services. Alex Shevchenko, CEO of Aurora Labs, suggested that NEAR Intents could serve as a mechanism to fund user-owned AI initiatives.
