Nebraska defeats Maryland 48-23 behind McDougle interception return
The Nebraska Cornhuskers secured a 48-23 victory over the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday, moving to a 5-0 season record and 2-0 in the Big Ten. The momentum shifted in the first half when Dwayne McDougle III returned an interception 81 yards for a touchdown, marking Nebraska’s longest pick-6 since 2007.
Maryland led for much of the first half, but three interceptions thrown by quarterback Malik Washington proved decisive. The loss brings Maryland to a 2-3 record and marks their 18th loss in their last 20 Big Ten games.
Nebraska quarterback Anthony Colandrea recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game with 108 yards on 10 carries, while also throwing for 238 yards and three touchdowns. Kwazi Gilmer contributed 147 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Nebraska is scheduled to face sixth-ranked Indiana next week.
