Nebraska Governor establishes statewide economic growth working group
Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has signed Executive Order 26-22 to establish the Governor’s Economic Growth Working Group. The initiative aims to coordinate business recruitment, site selection, and economic expansion across all 93 counties and six regions of the state.
Chaired by Maureen Larsen, Director of the Department of Economic Development, the working group will include representatives from the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Nebraska Economic Developers Association, and various regional and metropolitan chambers of commerce. The group is tasked with developing a multiyear economic strategy and creating a statewide inventory of available industrial sites, commercial properties, and infrastructure.
Key objectives include the creation of an annual recruitment plan involving trade missions and corporate visits. The working group is expected to submit an initial strategic framework to the Governor by December 31, 2026, with a comprehensive multiyear plan scheduled for publication by June 30, 2027.
