Nebraska athletics secures key wins in football and volleyball
Nebraska athletics achieved several notable victories across multiple programs. In football, the Cornhuskers moved to 5-0 after a 48-23 homecoming win against Maryland. Despite a shaky first quarter where they trailed 16-7, Nebraska outscored the Terrapins 41-7 in the remaining three quarters. Quarterback Anthony Colandrea led the offense with 346 total yards, including 238 passing yards and 108 rushing yards, while Kwazi Gilmer and Mekhi Nelson each recorded two touchdowns.
The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team continued its undefeated season with a 3-0 sweep of Maryland. The match, played before a record crowd of 15,127 at the Xfinity Center, featured a standout performance by Andi Jackson, who recorded a match-high 12 kills. This follows a recent sweep of No. 16 Penn State, a victory that marked head coach Dani Busboom Kelly’s 250th career win.
In rifle competition, the No. 15 Akron rifle team narrowly lost to No. 4 Nebraska with an aggregate score of 4,723-4,673.
