NEC expands cybersecurity services with AI and automated SBOM tools

NEC Corporation is expanding its cybersecurity offerings through new software and AI-driven managed services designed to enhance cyber resilience for industries such as finance, manufacturing, and retail.

In collaboration with NEC Security, the company will launch a new version of its lightweight program tampering detection software on November 1, 2026. This update includes a feature to automatically generate Software Bill of Materials (SBOM), reducing the time required for 10,000 software items from approximately 70 days of manual work to just three minutes. The tool aims to help organizations comply with the EU Cyber Resilience Act and protect industrial, medical, and automotive equipment from cyberattacks.

Additionally, NEC will introduce ‘BluStellar Intelligent Managed Service’ in late September. This autonomous service utilizes frontier AI to provide end-to-end support, ranging from asset discovery and vulnerability detection to risk analysis and remediation planning. By integrating asset and vulnerability data, the AI helps prioritize risks based on actual business impact and exploitation likelihood. NEC aims to achieve 30 billion yen in sales from this service over three years.
