NEC coach Dick Schreuder on cuts and injuries before Champions League tie
NEC head coach Dick Schreuder said Koki Ogawa and Adam Tahaui were omitted from the squad for the Champions League third‑round tie against Olympiakos, acknowledging their disappointment. He told the players they could be angry – “Je mag boos zijn, dat is geen enkel probleem” – but must accept the decision and work hard. Schreuder also noted the absence of Willum Willumsson and Vito van Crooij, and highlighted injury problems: defender Philippe Sandler left the training match after half an hour, midfielder Yassin Moslih was forced off, while Bram Nuytinck, Perr Schuurs and Thomas Ouwejan were still recovering. A potential signing, Ahmetcan Kaplan, was also lost to injury, leaving the defensive line thin. Despite the trainer’s objections, NEC travelled with a large squad, and Schreuder stressed that the preparation is not a school trip and that all players must train intensively for the upcoming match.
