NEC renews biometric contract with Goiás Identification Institute

NEC has renewed its contract with the Goiás State Identification Institute in Brazil for an additional three years to provide advanced digital biometric solutions. The company was selected following a bidding process that included a proof of concept to validate its proposed technologies.

The agreement provides updated biometric capabilities, including fingerprint, palm, and facial recognition, to strengthen civil and criminal identification processes. The modernization will utilize the NEC MBIS (Multimodal Biometric Identification System) platform, which offers advanced biometric comparison through web applications.

For criminal identification, the system will integrate proprietary technologies such as NeoFace Reveal and IBW. According to Daniel Bergonzelli, director of NEC’s digital identification business unit in Latin America, the investment is a strategic move to increase service efficiency for the population and support public security activities.
