NEC survey reveals AI expands freedom of thought but reduces sense of achievement
A survey by NEC regarding the relationship between artificial intelligence and well-being reveals a complex impact on user psychology. While 70.1% of respondents felt that AI has expanded their freedom of thought and 67.9% felt they could work more autonomously, 58.4% reported a decrease in their sense of achievement.
The study highlights a distinction between process-oriented and result-oriented users. Among those who value the process of completing tasks, 63.7% experienced a decline in achievement. However, users who engage in a collaborative style with AI—using it to dialogue and refine ideas rather than just for direct replacement—tended to report higher levels of well-being.
