Nec‑Angel Gorman sentenced to rehab after car theft in New South Wales
On July 20, 28‑year‑old Nec‑Angel Gorman appeared before Batemans Bay Local Court in New South Wales and pleaded guilty to 11 offences, including stealing a Subaru from a good‑samaritan, shoplifting, drug‑driving, assaulting a police officer and leading a police pursuit.
Judge Doug Dick described the theft as “despicable” and noted Gorman’s history of drug use. Instead of a custodial term, the court imposed a two‑year Intensive Corrections Order requiring Gorman to complete a residential rehabilitation programme. The judge highlighted the defendant’s recent steps to address his addiction and urged him to apply himself for the benefit of both the community and himself.
